Mel is Senior Vice President of Real Estate at WaCap and is responsible for all real estate appraisal activities for both equity and debt assets. He is also an Asset Manager responsible for office properties in the Seattle area. Mel joined WaCap in 2004 and works in the Seattle office.
Prior to joining WaCap, Mel worked in the commercial real estate appraisal group at Washington Mutual Bank in Seattle from 1996 to 2004, where he was a First Vice President in charge of commercial real estate appraisals throughout the United States. Mel started his real estate career in 1983 as an Appraiser for Pannell Kerr Forster, appraising hospitality properties across the country.
Mel received his BA in Business and an MBA in Finance from the University of Washington. He received his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in 1987 and is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in Washington State.
Mel has served on the Board of Directors of the Seattle Chapter of the Appraisal Institute as well as being Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and President. In 2011, he was named Appraiser of the Year by the Seattle Chapter. Mel has been a member of the City of Issaquah Development Commission for over two decades.
